The Means of Production (theMOP) is a recording studio run by Producer/Artist Adam Whaley. Located in north-central Austin, the studio has quickly become known for its relaxed atmosphere and top-notch results. Specializing in edgy pop-rock, R&B, and electronic projects as well as working with singer songwriters looking to develop material, theMOP serves as the perfect environment to take your music to the next level. With both the in-house talents of multi-instumentalist/arranger/producer Adam Whaley (The Morrows, Collective Method) and a host of vintage and modern instruments of premium quality at your disposal, you'll have the the ability to make the music that is in your head come to life.

At theMOP, we are constantly producing CDs to help bands promote themselves, so we can guide you through the process of making liner notes (cover art), building a website, and getting professional photography done at reasonable rates. Feb-5 After 6 solid months of collaborative work between Adam Whaley and Omar Lopez, the debut CD by Omar Lopez, entitled Forever Red, is now available! Buy the CD now online or go to Waterloo Records in Austin, TX. Visit Omar's site to learn more about upcoming promotional events.

Sep/Oct-04 Mixing a great new CD by Ear to Anon which will be released soon. Working with Omar Lopez on his dramatic debut CD. Still working with Elizabeth Color Wheel on their new EP. Also, making good progress on Carla Cameron's CD.

Jul/Aug-04 Currently working with Elizabeth Color Wheel on their new EP. Also, starting to record Carla Cameron's CD. The Set Aflame CD entitled The Satellite View EP is available in stores.

Apr/May-04 Tons of new projects starting this month. An R&B project with Terrell Holloman, prog rock with one man band Matt Olken, singer-songwriter projects with Lisa Richards and Carla Cameron, hip-hop with the Yung Doves, and more! Also, we finished final mixing with Set Aflame, look for thier CD in stores at the end of April!

Second, the new CD by The Innocent called "Our Grievances" is complete. We spent over a year making this CD and it is truly unique in scope and sound. Click here for more information.

Jan/Feb-04 I have finally put together a new page with a lot more examples of my photography. Click here to check it out. If you need promo shots or head shots for your band, contact me and we'll set something up. Music wise, I recorded/mixed a song with Austin band Set Aflame called 'The Neverending Shades of Grey'. Over the next month, we'll be working on putting together their first EP. I am also still working CJ's first EP.

Nov/Dec-03 I recorded a song with Carla Cameron called 'Ocean Soul' for her SXSW demo and it is really great. You can check it out on her site. I am continuing to work with CJ on some new R&B tracks (See the music section for a sample!) We are also making steady progress recording tracks for the next Morrows CD.

Sep/Oct-03 Busy month! Working with CJ on some new R&B tracks (See the music section for a sample!) and No Hoodoo on some new tracks for their CD. We have also started (baby steps) recording tracks for the next Morrows CD.

Aug-03 BIG NEWS! The synchronization rights to my bands' last project (The Morrows CD "Depth") have been picked by Hacate Entertainment Group in New York for marketing to film/tv opportunities! They will also potentially be marketing our CD to labels overseas. This is a big opportunity for the band, hopefully you'll hear one of our songs in a film or TV show soon!

In the studio this month I'm continuing work with R&B singer CJ, doing more songs with No Hoodoo, and starting a new project with singer/songwriter Cory Desha. We are also getting close to finishing the epic CD by The Innocent, its going to be really great!

July-03 Finished the demo CD for Austin band "No Hoodoo". Check out the new songs here. Matson Belle is taking a much deserved break, so I am moving on to work with a new R&B artist CJ. He is a great singer, so look for some impressive product from him soon. I'm also starting a new project with singer/songwriter Amy Crouch. We're still deciding on the direction her project will take musically, but she has some great ideas and I'm excited to get started. Finally, I'm starting a project with Nashville/Austin based project Berea. It will be an acoustic style project featuring some fantastic vocals. I'm still continuing to work with the Innocent on their debut CD. Overall a very busy month!

April-03 Completed work on a 5 song CD for Matson Belle. Matson Belle recently won the 2003 Austin Music Awards for Best New Band, Best Electronic Band, and Best Pop Band! I can't say enough good things about this music, you really need to check out these tunes and make an effort to see their dynamic live act. They are having a CD release party at Antones on Saturday April 19th (10pm). Check out some samples of their music here.
